D-Day with Mobas
We had the privilege of working with Mobas on the 10th of October, at Long Road to do a workshop. The workshop was based around designing our own Fashion shop.
So who is MOBAS?
Mobas is a creative agency, that's working in four key areas: strategy, design, digital and PR
They based in the south of Cambridge (about 3 miles away from Long Road), they work with clients across the UK and around the world.
- A top 100 UK advertising agency (ranked 69th nationally).
- A top 100 UK advertising agency (ranked 69th nationally).
- A top 100 UK design agency (ranked 43th and 1st East of England
- A top 100 UK digital agency (ranked in the top 50).
Our brief was to design a Fashion shop:
What style of clothing/ accessories/ shoes we would be selling? How would we use social media to promote our business? These exercises developed group skills and working efficiently by each person having a specific role. It also showed how social media is an important and effective way of integrating a business; through the use of Facebook, Twitter, Website and Instagram etc.. All these different social media's can pay big dividends, this in turn enables a richer brand experience.
Who was our target audience?
The Minds Behind Jazzy Ret. |
I worked in a group of 7 girls! so with no males around we tried to make our shop appeal to both genders, but in my opinion I think we drifted more to the female audience. Our shop was called Jazzy Ret. our clothing line promotes a healthy body image for young people who struggle with their self-confidence.
It encourages a fresh style with sizes ranging from 6 - 20 and advertises an 'upbeat' and 'natural' look. It's time for natural beauty to show. The social media networks we used were

and clothing website http://jazzyret.weebly.com/.

All of these social media's we used do exists, we set them up to see how easy this process would be and if it works- which they did! We did this so if this ever became an actually shop it would provide customer service/ engagement, increasing awareness, driving sales and brand building all of this will rise the success of our business as it will bring in dividends.
Then we pitched our idea to everyone who participated in the workshop as well, as someone who works at Mobas. This also worked on presentational skills. Although it was never raking, not going to lie, it went pretty well. I just had to tell myself "There's no way you gonna be choking up in front of all those eye, cause there's no way you can get out of it! Soooo... JUST DO IT!" in the famous words of Wieden+Kennedy who inspired the slogan for Nike.
One thing I know for sure, is asking more questions would've helped understanding the task better, as using time wisely, can help getting a lot done for deadline. However one thing I didn't get was, how to get into media and design as an occupation; and in particular the positions of that industry of your choice. they could of elaborated more on that.
